The group of artists “Matter of Color” was established more than 20 years ago and since then works together under the guidance of Bruria Hassner. Their Art work has been presented in Israel and abroad. The key concept in these artworks is the artistic freedom, in which each artist acts according to his or her own method, expressing their own inner and outer world and using their individual acquired tools to create the surroundings they are presenting. Free color smears characterize most of the artworks, in which the colorfulness breaks through from the color tube in what looks like a direct bond between the artists and their work of art. Each year, the artworks are presented in a yearly exhibition at the Jaffa Port near Tel Aviv in Israel, and is considered a huge success and receives nationwide publicity. The group has presented their artworks in the National “Habima” theater, at the Academic College of Tel Aviv and several other Universities, at the Russe state gallery in Bulgaria, at the “Jade” Gallery in Shanghai, China.
The artworks of individual artists are presented in public collections such as The Bank Leumi Collection, “Electra” Collection, and in private collections in Israel and worldwide as well.
A unique feature of the group is the contribution of the artists to the community. In the “Habima” exhibition, the paintings were donated to the Fund for Young Artists, and the paintings in Shanghai were donated to a school of children with learning disabilities,
The group approached the subject of “Empathy and Understanding” through the initiative of Mr. Thomas Binn and Mr. Eli Shaharabani. For a month the artists discussed this extremely complex and sensitive subject, later on producing artworks that attempt to represent the subject matter.
Each artist has brought in his or her own “handwriting” and his professional language to produce what he or she perceives as Empathy and Understanding.
The artworks in this exhibition like in previous ones are donated to two schools in Israel, one Jewish and the other one Arab which participate in the project of Mind in Motion.
